Roof Caps Installation

While installing a roof cap is relatively easy for those with training, it’s always safe to leave it to the experts. The first step is to measure the length and width of the ridge. Next, purchase a roof cap that is the appropriate size. The roof cap should also have an overhang that extends past the edge of the roof by at least six inches.

The next step is to install the roof cap over the ridge of the roof. Roof caps are typically installed with ridge bolts and screws. The bolts and screws should be spaced no more than 24 inches apart. Once the bolts and screws are in place, you can then install the roof cap over the ridge. Be sure to use drip edge flashing along the bottom of the roof cap. Finally, install a ridge vent below or behind the roof cap to improve ventilation across the ridge of the roof.

A waterproofing membrane is typically installed over top of the roof cap. This ensures that water will not be able to infiltrate through or around any holes in the metal sections or the gaps between the shingles on the wood fiber shingle roof caps.
